Last week we on vacation with my side of the family (except for Jessica and her family...she is due to have Dorian Jay this week). Here are the highlights from our week away.
My parents bought 2 single man kayaks. They were so fun, and a great workout too.
We bought Gavin a little fishing pole. We didn't set it up to fish, that would have been all kinds of trouble. But he would pretend to cast it and reel it in. Spencer caught a fish on his pole, and he told Gavin to reel his pole in. Gavin thought he caught the fish, so cute!
We did our usual hike to Rainbow Falls. That was an experience. We had a backpack for both boys to ride in. Grant slept the whole way there and Gavin rode in his backpack. On the way back Grant was tired of being in the backpack (cant blame him he was in there for about 2 1/2 hours) and cried most of the way back. Gavin wanted to walk on the way back which I didn't mind him walking but he stopped every 30 seconds to upgrade his stick. Which makes for a LONG, LONG hike back.
We went to Tenaya Lake at Yosemite. I love this lake! It is clean, warm, shallow (so Gavin can play in it) and there is sand like the beach. When we got there that's what Gavin said,"Beach, mom"
While we were away Grant has learned how to crawl. This little guy is all over the place now.
I must say I was happy both of my boys were so well behaved. We were able to sit through all of church there and dinner at Angels (our favorite restaurant up there).
Its always nice to leave. And then just as nice to come back home.

AMBER!! YEA!! I found you girl!! Your family is cute!! Aww, so happy to see I can keep in touch now!! YEA!!! ;)
How fun! It looks like you had a great vactaion, we need one like that! That's amazing that Grant is already crawling...and so funny that Gavin was upgrading his sticks, I would have gotten very impatient fast especially while hiking, ugh! lol
Yay! I was waiting for the Mammoth pics. And they are so cute. Kiera was excited to see new pics of you guys too. (That's my Buddy!) I'm bummed I wasn't able to go kayaking - that looks like fun! Glad you were able to have fun with everyone! TTYL.
This looks like soo much fun! Why haven't we ever come with you guys!? I'm in shock with every pic of Grant- he's so big! So thanks for your supportive comment about my summer- a number of things just haven't gone right- butI'm glad to know I'm not alone in my concerns and I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Its so common though and people don't talk about it enough. Thanks for being brave:) p.s. I don't think we'll be able to make it for the d-land trip :( (not enought time off)but it will be so fun for Elsie to get to get to know your boys!
Looks like you guys had fun! We want to go there now, I like shallow clean warm water! Alex is too lazy to crawl yet, but then again he doesn't have an older sibling showing him the ropes. He just likes to stick his fat hands in his mouth, also he already gets himself into enough trouble rolling around!
Congrats to Grant on crawling! Looks like a very fun family trip! I think I need a vacation now.
