Im not a writer. This is not grammatically correct. It just my thoughts
This is not meant to be a depressing recap. Its to celebrate and to remember how blessed we are.
Three years ago today is one of those days I will NEVER forget. Spencer has his terrible car accident. I have never written anything down about it. And since Im getting my blog finally printed. Now is the time to do so.
It was a pretty normal Friday off for Spencer. We were going to go to the park and kick the soccer ball around. Since we had just joined a co-ed soccer team. We also wanted to clean our carpets. Spencer decided to run up to his moms to get her Kirby to clean our floors with. He was gone for a while so I gave him a call on his cell. No answer. Tried about 10min later no answer. Finally a little while after that he calls. And says,"Hey babe I just got in an accident can you come and get me." He then tells me where he is at. Which was the corner of Riverside and Milliken. I load up Gavin and head over. I was quite surprised when I showed up to see a fire truck and an ambulance there. I had just talked to him on the phone and he sounded fine like this was just a little fender bender. Turns out not so! He apparently looked down for a split second and ran into an on coming semi- truck. When I get parked I run down to see where Spencer is. This nice fireman tells me he is in the ambulance but he is fine. LOL. Um, no. If he is in an ambulance he is most certainly not fine. I run to see him Strapped down in the ambulance and he tries to reassure me he is fine. The Paramedic tells me where they are going to take him and they leave. And i try and gather his belongings that are scattered across the street. Not to mention pieces of the Kirby. The whole time Gavin has been in the car crying because he wants to get out. Poor guy! By the time I finish there I run back to the apartment to meet my mom. I Give her Gavin some clothes (I think) and hurry over to the hospital. On they way to the hospital I call my dear friend Danielle. Who's husband works somewhere in Riverside. Wrong, come to find out it was Redlands. But he was so kind to drive over to Riverside to give Spencer a blessing. What a relief it was to see them when I came running into the hospital. Knowing my husband would soon receive a blessing gave me so much peace at that time. When I go back to see Spencer his right eye was swollen shut and he was still in a neck brace. The nurse came in and said they were waiting on the results of the cat scan. Which took FOREVER. The doctor FINALLY came in to tell us he was astonished at how minimal Spencer's injuries were. He didn't understand why there wasn't any internal damage done. I know why. Its called garments. All of his injuries were places other than where your garments would cover. I guess except for his clavicle. His injuries consisted of a broken left clavicle, staples on his shin and forearm and he shattered his left orbital bone. He stayed in the hospital over night. I stayed there until about 11:00 but I couldnt sleep in the chair so I went home. When I got home our answer machine had 12 messages on it. All 12 messages were from people in our ward sharing their love and concern for us. I tear up even thinking about it. I was so humbled and still am by all the love and strength you can fill during a trail. A few days later Spencer went into surgery to have his eye socket fused back together. His doctor was so amazing and you cant even see a scar. We were so blessed during this whole experience.
(Spencer took these picture a few days later, and thought it was cool that the air bag had blood on it) I didnt think so when I was getting items out of his car
Lessons Learned
Live in the moment, you dont know when its going to be your last!
You never know how much your little phone call or time of service means to someone

WOW!!! Amber you are amazing. That is such an awesome story! Thank you for sharing it!
Those pictures are gnarly!!!!!!
that is sooooo scary. I know how you feel. Jason got in a horrible accident like 6 months after we got married. His truck rolled, and landed on his head. I hate accidents. I am glad your hubby is ok...I would even have recognized him from those pictures!
I remember seeing him and being scared, he didn't look recognizable! I can't imagine what you must've felt. My biggest fear is something happening to my husband or one of my kids!
I remember! We were all so worried about him! Thanks for the reminder of how precious life is--you just never know what the future holds. Hope you are feeling well!
Oh man, I totally remember that. It was so scary! I'm so glad things worked out the way they did. You guys were so blessed. Can't wait to find out the big news!
Oh my gosh! I never knew about the accident! That is truly amazing that his life was spared! I love garments! A lady at my old work always teased me about my magic underwear but I guess they really are magic. I didn't know you were pregnant! How exciting!!!! I hope it's a girl! I'll be checking up on you! We should go to Disneyland together some time! I'm going tomorrow with my sis. It was neat seeing you there! Congrats!
