Any Ideas?

I hoping all you mother and teachers out there can help me with this. I have been trying to teach Gavin his colors and its not working he is either lazy, slow or color blind I haven't figured out which one it is yet. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good flash cards or books to learn numbers, ABC's, and colors. Im hoping to teach him one a day. Hopefully by doing this his attention spand will grow to be more than a minute.
I was talking to my friend the other day about how fast kids grow up. Then it occurred to us that Gavin is going to be a Sunbeam in January! Yeah, I know I feel bad for his teacher too. LOL. I just hope he will be able to sit in his chair. Other than that Im sure he will do great!
So, I am open to any and all ideas.
Thanks!

Ambrosia! That's just rude. Calling Gav either lazy or slow! I got great ABC flash cards from Babies 'R Us/Toys 'R Us, they had other ones besides ABC's. But these ones are durable and come with dry erase markers for when they learn to write their letters. Anywho, Kiera learned her colors from signing time - we rented the DVD from the library. It's a more hands on way of learning, so they don't get bored just sitting there listening. Can't wait to see u soon!

Some kids don't really see colors until they are older, like three or four. My nephew learned his colors when he was a year old, so everyone was wondering what was wrong with his little brother when he couldn't learn them by 2 1/2. He's almost three now and he finally knows them. Anyway, so don't worry too much about Gavin, maybe he can't differentiate yet.

Some of my kids have picked up on colors and numbers as early as 18 months, others took until they were 3 years old. I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep teaching! One day he'll surprise you and finally get it. You can find good books and flashcards at Target or Walmart, there are also alot of great sites online with age appropriate worksheets and crafts.

Ambular... my 2 cents is to do signs along with flash cards or whatever like jes said. and maybe instaed of doing one a day focus on one color for the whole week pointing out everything around that is that specific color and then change it the next week.

I told you when you were here swimming how Hannah can tell me the correct color but only if she concentrates long enough. Most of the time she doesn't want to think that hard. I can't believe that gavin and Hannah are going to be sunbeams in January. I'll probably shed a tear or two that day! Did you go look at that house? We have to have you guys over again soon.
