Childhood Memories

Growing up, our after church activities consisted of playing school or building forts. My sister and I loved to build forts. We had a bunk bed and from the bunk bed we would hang blankets, sheets, and even my moms big cutting board (the one you use for sewing) to make rooms in our forts. We would spend hours in there trying to make it better or just playing in there. And if we could persuade my mom to let us keep it up longer than a day we would sleep in them.
Well, yesterday Spencer played hookie from work and we spent most of yesterday back at Disneyland. So, this morning when I got up I was a little exhausted. Along with being a little tired I thought Gavin could use a little extra mommy time today. And you guessed it. We made a fort..... it was a totally lame one. But knowing I would be the one cleaning it up we kept it simple. He had a lot of fun in there. We pulled his little couch in there and we hung out, ate a morning snack, played with a flashlight and read a few books.
This doesn't happen very often which is sad because we had a great time.
Any of you have fort building memories?

Our little fort..I know its kinda lame. LOL

You're a good mom! great job! Isn't is funny how we don't do that stuff more often? Thanks for the reminder to do stuff like that!

that is so sweet and it makes me sad because Hannah needs mommy time so bad right now. I have so much to do today to get ready for the move and she has been begging for attention and my ignoring her need is causing her to act out which is making me not a very nice mommy. she finally fell asleep watching tv and now elisabeth won't let me put her down, which is why i have a moment for blogs. we were at disneyland yesterday too! oh and we used to love making forts when we were younger only we called them tents lol.

I'm sure you've already heard of spencer's fort memories. We would build huge ones in the living room. Tunnels galore. it was awesome.

man, my sister hayley was a fork building machine. Her's had entrances, polly pockets, food, drink, everything a kid could want. She would even sleep in them. Well, that is until she was sleeping one night, and a big earthquake came and trapped her... these were good times!!!

Forts are so fun! Sundays are usually our fort-building days, probably because we don't do tv, video games, trampoline, etc., and it forces them to get creative! Today the fort extended from the bunk bed all the way into the closet, very cool! :)
